2024年10月3日 · In an effort to modernize its iconic brand, the Penn State athletic department recently released new logos and signature mark for its beloved mascot, the Nittany Lion. The Nittany Lion is one of the oldest mascots in college sports, with its origins dating back to a baseball game against Princeton in 1904.
Nittany Lion Shrine - Pennsylvania State University
The Nittany Lion Shrine is a beloved symbol and campus landmark of Penn State. It was a gift of the class of 1940. The Shrine memorializes the mountain lions that roamed the hills around Nittany Valley before the University was founded in 1855. The Shrine was created by sculptor, Heinz Warneke, out of a 13-ton block of Indiana limestone.
