Fiber was largely unknown at the time that the AirPort Extreme was designed. For that reason, Apple makes no mention of fiber cabability in the specifications or setup instructions for the AirPort Extreme.

2017年11月28日 · Apple designed the Airport routers ages ago to work mostly on cable and with existing modems.. a fiber system can deliver a totally different set .. and you still need to find out if you need a vlan on wan port.. as well as type of authentication.. which can be PPPOE or simple DHCP much like a cable modem setup.

My internet setup is a direct fiber optic line from the node to the ISP gateway/modem (in passthrough mode) to the AirPort Extreme serving as the router/DHCP server and WiFi access point.

Do we need another modem to be connected? OK.. mostly you should be ok. You should just set the Airport router to DHCP on Internet tab.

I’m having the same issue - when starting a streaming session it totally locks up my internet session. 1 New AppleTV 4K. 2 Ethernet connection from AppleTV to AT&T fiber modem. 3 Locks up modem and need to reboot modem to get internet to work again.
