Excellent volunteers showing the weaving and history of Kidderminster carpets. Vibrant colours, history, design, interactive activities, films. This could take 30 minutes or 3 hours brilliant. christina s的完整评论

I agree with the majority of reviews here. We were keen to know something of Kidderminster and its history on a short stopover. Knowing of the town's connection with carpet-making, this was an obvi… Cookie25again的完整评论

Hello and thanks for asking all about a visit to the Museum of Carpet. We are an independent museum and so we need to charge an entrance fee. Adult admission is £4.50; with concessions at £3.50. Children aged 5-18 years are charged £2.00; those under 5 are free. You might want to buy a family ticket that allows two adults and up to four children to go around the Museum and this costs £10.00. If you are looking at coming as a group, we offer a tour plus refreshments for £6.50 per adult and this lasts about 2 hours with plenty of time to wander around the Museum after the formal tour which is carried out by one of our volunteers, many of whom spent their working lives in the carpet industry. As well as organised tours, we run demonstrations of the working machinery on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. These show people how carpet was made, firstly on handlooms and then on the massive working Jacquard and Wilton looms. There are plenty of hands-on exhibits and most of the displays contain things to try and do, such as our design your own carpet interactive. For little visitors, we have quizzes and trails, and we've even got some backpacks which take children on a guided tour throughout the Museum looking at four different areas such as 'art and design in carpet making' or ' the science of weaving carpets'. these are free to borrow - just ask for one at reception. As well as the permanent displays, we also have a temporary exhibition gallery and currently we're running an exhibition on the impact of World War One on Kidderminster. In late February we start a new exhibition, A Century of Surgeons, about three generations of the Strettons, a Kidderminster family who were all doctors. There's plenty of information on our website and we hope to see you soon.
