The Church of Christ owns the property of the Kirtland Temple now. They are a break off group from the "Mormons" or as the Mormon church is really called "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". The Church of Christ used to be called the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have a very nice tour of the Kirtland Temple and when we went there it was not "preachy". The "Mormon" church has a visitor center and restored buildings in another area down the road from the Kirtland Temple and they give more information about when the Mormons lived there in the 1830s.
I'll be in Cleveland for business in August 2017 and I was wondering what the easiest way to get to Kirkland would be? It looks a little far to take a cab.

You will take 90 east and get off at the Kirtland/Lake Metro Parks exit. It is probably 25-30 from Cleveland proper to the exit.
Hello all. I am from Australia. I have been persistent in my quest to find a photo of the Kirkland ashery showing the" vats" out the front. I have tried the visitors centre several times and then was given the LDS contact to no avail. I am writing a family history book and I have one chapter where I don’t have any pictures. My ancestor was a convict transported to Western Australia. He was a soap boiler and managed a ‘factory’ and the restored ashery at Kirtland would at least add some interest. Do you have a photo of this scene please? Internet photos are not suitable for printing as I need an original scanned at 300 dpi. Even a postcard that I can scan would be well received. I am happy to pay a small fee. I hope this post will reach someone who can help me. It is an amazing village and I will put it on my bucket list Kind regards, Iris W. .

I need a photo someone may have taken and has a hard copy. They can then scan it at 300 dpi for me. This would be my best option and I am relying on a random act of kindness. No my days travelling are over (25 year) as I am a pensioner. But I can still dream.
