Nov 25, 2021 · I find that playing with the Xbox Series S set to 4K produces a very blurry and low quality image when compared to the Xbox being set at 1080p with the TV doing the upscaling. Absolutely no difference in terms of input latency for me either

Feb 5, 2021 · I've had the Series S for about two weeks and I've been playing it on a Samsung 1440p 120hz 32" curved monitor and my friend's 4-year old 55" Samsung 4k TV. It looks great on both but, for example, Skyrim looks absolutely amazing on the 4k TV. Overall, the 4k upscaling gives the best video quality of the two screens, in my opinion.

Apr 5, 2022 · Basically, if you set your console to output at 4k then the console handles the upscaling. But if you set your console to output at 1080p then it's the TV that handles the upscaling. It gets scaled up to 4k either way. Some TVs do have worse upscalers than others though. But all of them have 'an upscaler'.

It was on sale for like £120. The games look definitely sharper, I've played FIFA 21, Forza Horizon 5 ,Far Cry 6 and Watch dogs Legion. In the meantime I swapped my series S with my daughter for her PS4 slim(I'm planning to get a series X down the line),even that looks much better on this monitor even though there's no 4k upscale .

Aug 7, 2022 · It's not terrible, it actually is still very enjoyable, but it's not gonna make your lower res content look like 1080p, 1440p, or 4K. Now, on the other hand, while the Series S is theoretically capable of 1440p 120hz, a 1080p monitor is already great to pair with it imo.

I wonder what the upscaling magic is, because the only actual upscaling right now that's happening is DLSS in Nvidia cards. As someone who has the Series S and plays with it on a 4K screen, I can quite clearly see games from last gen are quite often not even 1080p.
