Walther P38 Serial Number and finding production date
2017年12月2日 · Your alloy framed P-38 was manufactured post-war, between 1957 and the early '60s, and in German military or police service would've been referred to as a Model P1. In the late '60s the design was modified to incorporate a frame-strengthening hexagonal cross pin, as well as a widened slide, and were stamped P1. Mac. Hank Enting.

picked up a walther p38 from 1962 in excellent condition today
2010年7月7日 · 6388 posts · Joined 2009. #4 · Jul 7, 2010. In postwar production, Walther marked their (West) German army contract pistols "P1" per army nomenclature. The civilian production was marked P38. Wartime pistols were marked P.38, with the period. A good pistol, and the price seems reasonable. I would avoid super hot ammo, though.

The hexagonal strengthening crosspiece above the trigger guard was adopted in June '75. The importer, Interarms - as stamped on the slide, has been out of business since the '90s.

2005年3月25日 · For a shooter the P1 is the answer and it is a shooter. It should be noted that no P1 is a Curio or Relic (must be 50 years old to be C&R) and must be processed like any other handgun. The P38 is if it is pre-1955. In California someone has processed the Walther P1 through the Safety Program and it can be purchased.

2023年7月21日 · The P38 is a great collectors item and surplus post war guns in the past were always a bargain but the P38 had a lot of problems. 1. The post war guns had a top cover that was redesigned compared to the Original 4 leg WWII cover making the post war 2 leg top cover even more prone to blow off under the recoil of hot factory or handloaded ammo.

So I replied that the grips of wood that I have on the 1987 Walther P38 .22LR (#4342) steel frame are the same I have on the 1986 Walther P38 "1886-1986 100 Jahre" 7,65mm Parabellum (#505389) steel frame.
