How effective is a sword and board fighter? : r/dndnext - Reddit
I'm playing a v. Human fighter for an upcoming campaign starting at level 1 and am torn on my build options. I want to go (long)sword and board with dueling fighting style and sentinel (shield master later on) but I'm not sure how effective this is.

This is mainly due to limited feat support: I'm doing 1d8+7 with my sword and dueling fighting style fighter, while the PAM/GWM is doing massive damage.
