Tscherny designed the first SVA poster in 1956 (he’s done 14 more since) and taught the first course in graphic design at the College in the mid-1950s. He also created the famous “flower” logo in 1997 for SVA’s 50th anniversary, establishing the College’s strong visual presence throughout New York City.

2023年11月15日 · Tscherny was tapped by SVA founder Silas Rhodes to teach the first graphic design course at SVA and establish the design department at the College. In total, Tscherny designed fifteen subway posters for SVA and many other SVA publications. His logo for SVA, introduced in 1997 for the College's 50th anniversary, is still in use today.

The current school logo was created in 1997 by George Tscherny for its 50th anniversary, [16] and redesigned in 2013. [6] In 2019 the school began the process of converting to nonprofit, with the SVA alumni organization (which is already an IRS tax-exempt entity) planning to purchase the school from its owners, who are retiring. [17]

Jorge Santana logo. This typographic treatment for Mexican guitarist Jorge Santana (brother of Carlos Santana) appeared on the back of his 1978 self-titled album designed by Glaser, but it seems the logo was also distributed on its own; we have this in our collection as a sticker.
