Calling from a landline shows the phone number, the company name shows up from callers who are part of the address book. However, these contact are not stored on the ICloud rather though the company MS Exchange so it appears support will be limited for this query.

As I replied to someone else above, the very same mail account can send mail using iOS mail app - which means the phone can authenticate the account AND TLS works. The issue is the the iOS and iPadOS mail app fails to get new mail from imap servers. This is a bug. .

Of course if the employee has kept the phone and you're just worried about paying for telephone service then contact the phone company and have service terminated and the phone blacklisted to prevent it from being placed in service by any company again.
