2021年10月6日 · Glue doesnt stick all to well at melamine anyways, so youd probably be safe without the paste wax. Adding the wax just makes it an absolute certainty that nothing sticks, and makes removal easier. Other options include laying down a sheet of waxed paper or a trash bag, both of those options will prevent glue stickage as well.

2018年3月18日 · I have never used pocket screws on melamine, but I would avoid it. You need to use particle board screws that have a deeper thread. Use dadoes with glue, or butt joints with particle board screws. Using butt joints and screws allows more thread to bite than a pocket screw would. I also use 3/4" for the backs just screwed on.

2023年9月25日 · Melamine is paper thin and easily flakes off, especially around the edges. You would certainly need to band it with solid wood for it to have any chance of surviving. If it were me I would just use a 3/4" birch or sande plywood. You could paint it with enamel to prevent glue from sticking to the wood. Reply Like.

We used to use melamine for catch tables and jigs and stopped because after a while the melamine wore through showing the particleboard core.

2011年2月9日 · Some joinery with melamine only has to break the surface to get a glue joint. IOW, instead of a butt joint, dado 1/8" deep and use any Titebond glue. You may find info on Roo Glue for melamine. I do not recommend it. You may consider only fixing one or two shelves (depending on the height of the cabinet) to keep the cabinet shape.

The ends of the stretchers will sit in a rabbet at the top edge of both end panels and will be glued and fastened. My plan is to screw up through the stretchers and into the table top (3/4 melamine) to fasten it in place.

2013年4月30日 · There are better substrates to put veneer on but you can put veneer on melamine. You just need to roughen the melamine with coarse sandpaper first. Personally I would rather use a paperback veneer and a flamable contact cement to apply the veneer rather than using the PSA veneer. I think contact cement is more durable than the 3m spray adhesive.

2016年1月8日 · You will have to sand it off. Try coarser sandpaper until you get the glue worn down and then change to finer paper. Personally, I always belt sand wood like that first. It gets rid of glue pretty quickly however like any other tool you have to learn how to use it or it will cause more damage. Hi Steve, thanks.
