Dec 13, 2020 · Epsxe is the most well known and does a pretty good job. It's kinda tricky to get it to look like an original ps1 without using a crt TV or monitor, sounds a bit backwards but the blurriness actually takes the edges off the blocky graphics and improves the look.

epsxe seems pretty much dead update-wise on PC. But it's a real shame that, even though Retroarch's main PS1 emulator on PC is based off of mednafen, they don't seem to have anyone that actually knows how to have a working netplay system for PS1, even though they've massively overhauled their netplay for other systems.

ePSXe was the PS1 emulator of choice for years. But as far as I'm aware, development on it halted forever ago. But as far as I'm aware, development on it halted forever ago. Duckstation has way more features, higher compatibility, almost zero configuration required on first boot, a slicker UI, and is in constant development.

Generally Beetle PSX is considered the more "accurate" emulator, but all that means in this case is that it doesn't have advanced settings that depend on powerful computer hardware, hence the name Beetle PSX "hardware".
