BACKGROUND: I have a 24x20 boxed eave metal carport. Currently the legs are 6' tall. The boxed end of the eave is only about 5'9". It has 2-1/2" square legs bolted to a 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 bottom rail running the 20' sides. Sitting on a gravel base. I have installed a number of door closers in aluminum doors and always pre-drilled and used the screws supplied with the closer. Never had a problem yet.
