DISCUSSION: Valtrex -> valcyte or famvir for HHV-6 and cmv
2020年6月10日 — Gold standard for cmv and hhv6 is valcyte. 6 months of valcyte seems to be where many improvements stop on valcyte and a good time to stop and avoid side effects. Then ideally move to famvir for a significant amount of time. The doses used by Dr Lerner are very agressive compared to drs in Australia.

2012年6月11日 — London. I've had no insomnia at all from Valtrex. Really sorry to hear that you have. Adds another insult to having this horrible disease when we get side effects. What I have had for a long time though is an altered sleep pattern with a delayed onset of sleep. I'm a night person but most people in my family are (and it pre-dates the ME).

2019年3月14日 — For Valtrex one big dose again was ok. Actually, the active ingredient in Valtrex has a blood half-life of only about 3 hours. So it is best to break up your Valtrex doses and take them throughout the day, with a small portion every 4-6 hours or so. (The intracellular half-life may be longer, though.) #11.

2010年2月28日 — Just re-started Valtrex (second month) after not filling it or taking it for about two weeks. I "think" the side-effect I am having again with Valtrex is the heavy non-stop sleep and total lack of energy. Sleeping again up to about 18 hours a day and so not able to wake up. This happened the first few weeks of the Round One Valtrex.

2016年2月19日 — Famciclovir is easier to tolerate, I think. The increased heart rate persists after several months (estimate my resting heart rate has gone up 10-15 beats per minute. On the other hand, I've become increasingly sedentary lately, with decreased fitness, so that may contribute to increased resting heart rate. #2.
