After sitting on top of the Netflix top 10 list for a while, American Primeval, the limited series starring Taylor Kitsch, is now down to #2 thanks to the arrival of Monday Night

The final battles of American Primeval leave a few of our main characters standing at the end, meaning Betty Gilpin, Preston Mota, and Shawnee Pourier could all return for a second season. Shea Whigham as Brigham Young could also reprise his role if the series is renewed.

Netflix’s new historical drama “American Primeval” is currently the No. 1 series on the site. But how much of the show and its characters are based on the 1857 Utah War?

Jim Bridger, played by Shea Whigham, was a real life pioneer who built the town of Fort Bridger, which features in the series and was a real town. Brigham Young, played by Kim Coates, was also a real life figure. He was the head of the Mormon church at the time and had his own army known as the Nauvoo Legion.

Taylor Kitsch and Betty Gilpin led the gritty miniseries about a family's trek across the American West in 1857.

Right now there's been no word on a second series of the show. American Primeval is listed as a "limited series" which would indicate it could only get a one season run. However, the series director and executive producer Peter Berg has revealed he is keen for the show to return, on one condition.
