A New Porsche 911 GT3 Is Born, and We Look Back at Its Family Tree
The 997 GT3 did see technology creeping in, as it was the first variant to come with Porsche's active suspension management. Prettier than the 996, but still relatively lithe, the 997 saw its flat-six grow in displacement from 3.6 to 3.8 liters, and finally 4.0 liters, the largest engine offered in a 911.

2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the GT3 and Porsche has taken the opportunity to showcase both the GT3 and the classically-elegant 'wingless' GT3 Touring (pictured above) as 992.2 generation models. Those who like to bring their kids along for weekend drives will like to learn that the GT3 Touring now features an option for rear-seats!
