The U.S. is marking Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday. But in Alabama and Mississippi, it's also Robert E. Lee Day, in honor of the Confederate general.

Hundreds gathered in downtown Tuscaloosa to observe the birthday of the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

People across the country are remembering civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. Monday. Part of his legacy includes leading a march from Selma, Alabama to the state capitol in Montgomery in March of 1965.
