A Maine man is accused of stealing a large front-end loader in Garland. Police say he attempted to drive it into a home, destroyed vehicles with it and was apparently shot by the homeowner. Police say 37-year-old Michael Thompson allegedly stole the vehicle from a nearby gravel pit before arriving at the home on Upper Notch Road.

Officials say the shooting happened after a resident claimed a man was trying to run through their house with the front-end loader and was destroying vehicles in their driveway.

A Corinna man allegedly stole a front-end loader and attempted to drive it through a home before being shot by its residents.

A Maine family is mourning the loss of a 3-year-old boy who went missing from his home and was later found dead outside in the snow over the weekend, state police said Monday.

Maine State Police said the boy’s aunt called 911 at about 8:28 a.m. Sunday and reported her nephew was missing from the family’s home on Exeter Road in Corinna, Maine.
