I found this to be more of a tourist scam and I would have preferred going on another hike in the area rather than this tour. We parked at the gift shop and walked to the cafe which was a boring walk… mymomslifewdementia的完整评论

As you can see from their website - You will travel to Lampivaara amethyst mine with special “snow train” Amethyst Pendolino which is a warmed wagon pulled by a snow machine. You may choose your departure station: the center of Luosto, Ukkoluosto parking lot (2,5 km from center, car parking) or Lampivaara Café (5 km from Luosto, you can arrive here by skiing, by snowhoes, by fatbike or by winter hiking). We caught the Pendolino up from Luosto it takes 20-30 minutes to get the mine.

Hi, I would really like to visit the Amethyst Mine in Lapland late Feb but the 3 tour operators I tried booking with only accept bookings with a minimum of two people. Does anyone know of any other tour operator that will take bookings for solo travellers or the best way to get to the mine by public transport from Rovaniemi city ? Thanks.

To add to above answer, Its not a difficult drive if you wanted to hire a car as all the hire cars have studded tyres. If you’re going to travel to Luosto, I’d strongly recommend activities with …

If you’re going to travel to Luosto, I’d strongly recommend activities with Pascal at Arctic Horizons. He also might be able to drop you off at Lampivaara collection point and advise on transport to and from Rova.

From their website: In winter time there are no open roads to Lampivaara and Amethyst Mine, but you may travel across snowy forests in our special winter vehicle, Amethyst Pendolino. You can start your visit from the center of Luosto, or from Ukko-Luosto parking lot (2,5 km from center). You can also ski or make winter hiking up to Lampivaara Café and jump into Pendolino from there. We went by cross country ski's from Luosto town (approx 5km). You can also walk there but just make sure you get there in time for the guided tour as you cannot visit by yourself.

Hi, we booked locally [we were staying in Luosto], amethyst mine have a little shop in Luosto which is open every day 10am till 5pm [approx], it was cheaper to book with them and also they have a snowcat which takes around 25 people all heated inside and leaves twice a day from Luosto centre just opposite the Luostotunturi Hotel [takes 1/2 hr], real easy way to get to the top and a really enjoyable and different ride. You can go with Lapland safaris or Snow games [Lapland safaris have just bought out snow games so all one company now] via snow mobile. Try if possible to go on a clear day really fantastic views from the top but the trips can book up quickly for the snow cat ride..............if travelling from Rovaniemi suggest you go with Lapland Safaris around 1.30hrs maximum drive to Luosto...............or drive yourself and phone ahead to book in the mine shop......all details are on there website...............enjoy.
